The Embodied Foundations of Yin

Deepen your practice, refine your teaching, and learn to hold space with greater presence, confidence, and care. The Embodied Foundations of Yin is a three-day, Level 1 Yin Yoga Teacher Training for yoga teachers, space holders, and dedicated students who want to explore Yin Yoga beyond the postures. This grounded and experiential training weaves together Yin philosophy, functional anatomy, fascia, Traditional Chinese Medicine, nervous system awareness, trauma-informed facilitation, sequencing, theming, and the art of holding space. Yin Yoga is not simply about stretching or stillness. It is a practice of listening, patience, and learning how to meet the body and inner landscape with curiosity and compassion. Throughout the training, you will deepen your personal practice while developing the knowledge and practical tools needed to guide safe, accessible, and meaningful Yin Yoga classes. What You Will Learn The training includes: - Yin Yoga foundations, philosophy, and Yin-Yang theory - The three principles of Yin practice - Fascia, connective tissue, and functional anatomy - Skeletal variation, tension, and compression - Target areas, pose families, props, and modifications - Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Five Elements - Meridian theory and energetic sequencing - Nervous system awareness and trauma-informed teaching - Interoception, mindfulness, and emotional awareness - Language, cueing, silence, and student autonomy - Sequencing and theming Yin Yoga classes - Facilitator presence and holding space - Practice teaching, feedback, and integration You will learn to adapt the pose to the person rather than forcing the person into the pose, creating classes that respect individual bodies, boundaries, and experiences. Daily Breakdown Day One: Foundations of Yin Explore the roots and principles of Yin Yoga, Yin and Yang theory, stillness, sensation, time, fascia, connective tissue, and functional anatomy. Day Two: The Body, Energy, and Inner Landscape Study skeletal variation, target areas, pose families, meridian theory, Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Five Elements, and the emotional landscape of Yin. Day Three: Teaching, Sequencing, and Facilitation Learn trauma-informed facilitation, nervous system awareness, language, cueing, props, sequencing, theming, transitions, holding space, and practice teaching. Who This Training Is For This training is suitable for: - Yoga teachers wanting to add Yin Yoga to their offerings - Existing Yin teachers wanting more depth and confidence - Dedicated students wishing to deepen their practice - Facilitators interested in fascia, functional anatomy, meridians, nervous system awareness, and emotional wellbeing - Anyone drawn to slower, introspective, and deeply embodied practices Previous Yin Yoga teaching experience is not required. What’s Included - Full Yin Yoga training manual - Yin Yoga pose manual - Three days of in-person training - Practice teaching and feedback - Certificate of completion upon full attendance - 30 hours of Yoga Alliance Continuing Education through YACEP Investment Pay in Full: $900 NZD (early bird until August 13) $1100 full Or: Two payments of $550 NZD The first payment secures your place. The second payment is due by September 1, 2026. Spaces are limited to keep the training intimate, personal, and supportive. Your Facilitator The training is led by Mikey Pantuso, an E-RYT 500hr yoga teacher, breathwork facilitator, and sound healing practitioner with international experience teaching classes, workshops, retreats, ceremonies, and teacher trainings. Mikey’s approach to Yin Yoga weaves together functional anatomy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, nervous system awareness, emotional inquiry, meditation, and trauma-informed facilitation. His teaching is grounded, spacious, and deeply embodied, supporting students to develop both practical teaching skills and a more meaningful relationship with stillness.
